Our next Travel Chat, we are travelling to Outback Central Queensland with our very own Neale. Together with his wife, Eileen, they will share their interesting travel tales of this tour conducted by Adam Taylor Tours – a company which our club has used many times.
Neale will share about meeting the million or two friendly bugs – hence the head nets. They also encountered unusual staff in some pubs.

While travelling around vast North Queensland, one can learn about Australia’s rich and unique history. Australia is one of the oldest land masses and has its stories literally written in the land itself.
Stonehedge Address Book is the world’s largest address book as it is written in large stones.

In Eromanga, the Natural History Museum houses dinosaur bones including Australia’s largest dinosaur. The Cosmos Centre features astronomy, craters and meteorites exhibits.

And the stories of Australia are continued in the other museums such as the historic Blackall Woolscour (wool washing). The Australian Workers Heritage Centre showcases the last 250 years of struggle by people on the land with sheep and cattle, crops, mining and now tourism.
Then culminating at Longreach is the renowned Stockman’s Hall of Fame which was opened by Queen Elizabeth in 1988. To quote a part of her opening speech, the museum tells “The story of the ‘great brown land, its people, its landscapes. Indigenous, pastoralists, explores, men, women and children, animals and environment co-existing, succeeding, failing, living and dying, they all have a story to tell. And it is a great honour to be the custodians of these stories and share them with our visitors”.

The Qantas Founder Museum tells the story of Qantas starting out as a small country airline growing into an international carrier.

The second part of our meeting will be on various travel apps and how they can make your holidays much easier. Looking at apps such as ESIMS, Whatsapp, Google Maps etc.

Come along and hear about stories on how the bush built the cities from Neale and how using apps may make future stories about your next holidays easier.
If you are coming to the meeting, you may like to bring along a useful travel app to share.
