Option 1
This is a 10km out and back walk. The walk will start at the Shelley Beach Coffee shop, a 1.5km flat walk from Manly Wharf. Then a moderately difficult uphill coastal walk to the Artillery Barracks and on to the North Head and Fairfax Lookouts for spectacular views of the city, South Head and Outer harbour.
Option 2
Bus option. Starting at the Coffee shop, the walkers will return to the bus stop near Manly Wharf then catch the 161 to North Head and visit the lookouts and the spectacular views. Join the rest of the group to walk or bus back.
For those wishing to stay for lunch a table will be booked at the Ivanhoe Hotel on the Manly Corso.
Access/fitness: A reasonable level of fitness required. There is a 1km difficult section at the beginning leaving Shelly Beach, the rest is reasonably flat on well-made boardwalks and paths.
Getting There: Ferry is the preferred option. Suggest the 8.13am Cabarita Ferry which will connect with the 9.10am ferry to Manly.
Walk Starting Point: Starting time is 10:00am. The walk starts after coffee at the Shelly Beach Coffee Shop.
Duration: Allow around 2.5 hours due to the many viewing options. There are toilets at the Cafe and along the way.
Getting Back: There is a half hour ferry service from Manly Wharf to Circular Quay.
The weather is changeable wear layers, bring a light jacket, good walking shoes. Also bring snacks and water
