Hyde Park Barracks is Australia’s first government-built convict barracks and the only remaining barracks building and complex from the Macquarie era of convict administration.
Between 1819 and 1848 over 50,000 male convicts passed through the Barracks…. it is also significant because it was designed by Australia’s first architect Francis Greenway, himself a convict.

Reminder – Hyde Park Barracks Tour – Friday, 28 May 2021

There are three places available for the Hyde Park Barracks tour at Queens Square, Macquarie Street (southern Hyde Park) on Friday 28 May 2021.

Afterwards, you can join other members for a light sit down lunch (yum cha) at Bodhi’s restaurant (2-4 College Street) at 12.30 pm.  Alternatively, members can make their own arrangements for a BYO lunch at Hyde Park or enjoy a purchased lunch in a nearby cafe.

Membership Renewal

The 2020-2021 annual membership fee is $20.00 and is due before the end of March as on 1st April we need to report to Probus South Pacific, the complete list of our members and pay a capitation (i.e., a levy) and insurance fee for each member.
If you do not intend to renew your membership, would you please let the membership officer, Karin Canty know by email.
Payment details can be found at the following link. It is important to include your family name and use ‘ann subs’ as a reference.
As our club is running at capacity, if payments are not made before the end of this month, you will no longer be a member and will need to re-apply to join our Probus Club. There is an additional cost for new membership on top of the annual fee.
