Back to Black Exhibition, Friday 19 July 2024
On a cold but sunny winter’s day 16 of us gathered in Parramatta Park to see the current exhibition at Old Government House, Back to Black. Showcasing part of the National Trust’s textiles collection, it illustrates how black clothing was worn in mourning, as day wear and for partying over the 19th and 20th centuries.
Our special Curator’s tour gave us further insight into how the collection was formed, and how it is now cared for. At the end of the tour there was time to wander downstairs through Old Government House itself before heading off to Club Parramatta for lunch.
