Walk of Interest – Historic Parramatta – Tuesday 12 March 2024 – NOW FULL


A circuit of Parramatta CBD starting and finishing at the railway station. We will visit the Parramatta Hospital Archaeological Site, the Phillip Ruddock Heritage Centre, a tour of St John’s Anglican Cathedral, the replica of the Rose Hill Packet and a tour of the Lancer Barracks Museum.

We will take a coffee break at the Shed café, adjacent to the Phillip Ruddock Heritage Centre and finish with lunch in Parramatta Square after the visit to Lancer Barracks.

Where: Meet at the Parramatta Square exit from Parramatta Train Station at 9.15am. Suggested train from Strathfield would be the 8.54 am on platform 6, arriving 9.07 am at Parramatta platform 2.

When: Tuesday 12 March 2024 starting at 9.15 am.

Cost: The tour of St John’s is by donation. Please bring coins or notes to donate into the box. The tour of Lancer Barracks is $10.00 per person, payable on the day by cash or EFTPOS.

Access/fitness: The terrain in Parramatta is quite even. The loop itself is only about 2km, however we will be exploring each of the sites which will involve more walking and standing. Apart from our refreshment breaks there will not be much opportunity to rest.
