Visit to the Chau Chak Wing Museum – Review

On Friday 25th March, eleven members of our club enjoyed a visit to the Chau Chak Wing Museum.

The Museum is located in the heart of Sydney University and was easy to get to on the 461X bus from Parramatta Road.

We began with coffee at the Sounds Sydney cafe which overlooks the eastern side of the Museum.

From there we did a self-guided tour of the fascinating artworks, artefacts and specimens across all four floors of the Museum. The exhibits gave many of us lots to discuss and comment upon as we were walking around.

The Mummy Room was especially interesting. Thanks to digital imaging and scientific illustration, the viewer is able to investigate the processes involved in mummification; mind you, you had to be wealthy to afford it!

The group reassembled for a tasty lunch at the Sounds Sydney cafe and then made our way home.
