Travel Chat – A Road Trip through Western Canada

This month, we are going on a road trip starting in the mainland destinations of Vancouver and Vancouver Island and traveling up the Rocky Mountains to the towns of Whistler and Banff. Then it’s over the Rockies to Calgary and onto the world’s largest Dinosaur Museum in Drumheller, situated on the Badlands.

We will learn why Vancouver is one of the ‘best places to live’ and look at the top tourist attractions of both Vancouver and picture postcard Vancouver Island. While in Whistler, we go on a ride on the Peak2Peak gondola, the world’s longest and highest cable ride, to see the spectacular peaks and glaciers. Journey on Highway 93, which is one of the world’s most scenic roads winding between the turquoise waters of Lake Louise and Lake Moraine, then take a walk on the Glacial Icefields near Banff.

Hear about the culture of the First Nations People, and the hardships encountered whilst building the transcontinental Canada Railway. Drop into the famous Fairmont hotels and learn about local foods like poutine and beaver tails.

Come along and find out about this magnificent part of the world or share your own experiences. Travel Chat meets on Wednesday 11 March at 11:00 am in the Breakfast Point Admin Building.
