Freedom Dinner – previously known as Xmas in July!

We have all heard of a Movable Feast. Well now is your chance to be part of one! Our well laid plans for Xmas in July celebrations have been scuttled by COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions. Ever optimistic, your Probus friends have set a date in October for the dinner and it is now known as The Freedom Dinner. Please see details below:

New Date: Wednesday 27th October, 2021.

Time: 6:00pm for pre-dinner drinks.

Venue: Breakfast Point Country Club – Village Drive Breakfast Point

Cost: $60 per person. Payment details HERE. Please include the Outing code “Dinner” when paying.
NOTE: If the new date is problematic and you require a refund, please notify the Convener and contact the Treasurer with your Full name, Bank name, BSB details and Account number.

Numbers: There are vacancies available.

Closing date for bookings: The Club needs to know final numbers and any dietary requirements by Thursday 21 October.

Entrée (alternate drop)
Grilled garlic and chive prawn stir-fry
OR
Baked goats’ cheese and sun-dried tomato field mushrooms with truffle cream reduction

Main (alternate drop)
3 bone rosemary and garlic lamb cutlets
Served with potato, baby peas, mash, red wine jus’ and roasted baby beets
OR
Grilled baby capper and kaffir lime swordfish
Served with chilli and coriander potato and dutch carrots.

Vegetarian only
Mixed mushrooms risotto
Wilted baby spinach and buttered shallots

Dessert
Baked ricotta tart
Berry compote and pistachio ice cream

The Services NSW App on your phones has a direct link to COVID-19 Resources where you can enter your Postcode and see a list of nearby exposure sites with the date and times. Alternatively this link will take you to the NSW Health list of exposure sites. You can click on the little arrows at the top of the column to sort the table into alphabetical order as the default is date order.

Train is probably the best option as the Ferry from Cabarita Wharf can often be full by the time the Ferry reaches Cabarita on occasions such as VIVID.

Train to Wynyard via the Wynyard Walk is just a four-minute walk to Barangaroo and Wharf #2

Lunch at The Woolwich Pier Hotel – Wednesday 16th June 2021

Come and enjoy the company of fellow members and lunch overlooking the harbour at The Woolwich Pier Hotel. They have a senior’s lunch special – Grilled Dory, chips, salad & a glass of wine or beer or, if preferred, order off the menu.

When: Wednesday 16th June 2021 – lunch booked for 12pm.

Where: Woolwich Pier Hotel – 2 Gale Street Woolwich

How to get there: Meet at Cabarita wharf to catch 10.52am Rivercat to Cockatoo Island to connect with 11.19am ferry to Woolwich wharf arriving at 11.24. A 12 minute walk (754m) slightly uphill to the Hotel but downhill on the way home! .
Return ferry from Woolwich wharf to Cockatoo Island leave on the hour @ 2.09; 3.09pm.
Alternatively you can drive yourself to the hotel.

Cost: Return fares; cost of lunch & drinks to be paid by members

Visit to the Chinese Garden of Friendship – Darling Harbour with the Photogroup

All are welcome to this photogroup outing to the Chinese Garden of Frienship. We will meet for coffee at a café called the Social Quarter in the Darling Quarter (a complex near the Gardens on the eastern side of Tumbalong Park). We will then move onto the Gardens at about 10am and then back to the Darling Quarter to find something for lunch before travelling home.

Date: Tuesday May 18th 2021 9:30am for Coffee and the Gardens open at 10am

Closing Date for Bookings: May 17th

Cost: Entry is $6 for a concession –  payable at the Gardens

How to get there: Getting there is your choice of Ferry to Barrangaroo and a walk, Light Rail from Marion Street to the Convention centre stop or train to Central and Light Rail or walk to Darling harbour.
