Yes, this is a local walk and just a short ferry ride away, but not your typical Sydney Olympic Park walk – no stadiums or urban areas. We will be taking a peaceful 10km loop trail through the northern wetlands and grasslands of Sydney Olympic Park.
It’s an easy walk with no steps, well-made paths, and with plenty of shade, but a reasonable fitness level is required to complete the 10km distance. Bring along a jacket, good walking shoes, water and a snack for a halfway stop.
Coffee is available at the start of the walk and snacks/lunch are available from the Armory Cafe at the 8km point. There are restrooms at the wharf and along the walk.
Where: We meet at the Sydney Olympic Park ferry wharf at 10am.
From the wharf, we take a short stroll along the Parramatta River before looping inland via the Archery Park and the Brickpit Ring Walk. The walk continues along Duck Creek, through the Armory and back to the Ferry.
Duration: Approximately 2½ hours but we will allow 3-3½ hours with lunch and rest stops.
Getting there: Catch the ferry from Cabarita Wharf upriver to Sydney Olympic Park (15 minutes). We suggest the 9:19am ferry to arrive and have coffee before we head off at 10am.
Return: Ferry back to Cabarita Wharf.
Please advise the convener if you will be joining the walk.
