This is an 8km Coastal/Urban walk which begins at the Rose Bay Ferry and ends at Watsons Bay.
This walk is a combination of 60% quiet urban streets and 40% through coastal parks and reserves.
Where: The walk starts at the Rose Bay Ferry Wharf. Suggest we meet for coffee at Jes Ve before starting.
When: Tuesday 28 March 2023.
Time: Start 10:20 am at Rose Bay Wharf.
Duration: Average 2 hours, however allow around 2.5-3 hours.
The first stage is along Rose Bay Beach before entering an urban section with a number up and down sections of well made steps spread throughout the walk.
There are great views of the harbour and its secluded beaches and bays as well as the never ending fascination of the private mansions. The terrain is hilly and the track is a combination of easy and moderate.
There are plenty of rest stops and there is no real time pressure as there is a regular Ferry service out of Watson Bay.
Getting there: Ferry is the preferred option. Suggest catching the 8.35 am Cabarita Ferry which will connect with the 9.44 am ferry to Rose Bay. The walk will finish at Watsons Bay.
For those who wish to stay for lunch, there are several options including the Pub and Doyle’s Fish and Chips on the wharf.
Getting back: There is a half hour ferry service from Watsons Bay via Rose Bay to Circular Quay. 12P and 4P parking is available at the wharf for those wanting to car share.
There are toilets at the Cafe and along the way (Neilson Park cafe is closed due to beach restoration but toilets are available).
Convener: Contact Peter Woodhouse
Note:
There is good shade but the weather is warm so light clothes, good walking shoes/boots and a single walking pole are recommended.
