Join the Bushwalking Group for a 10km walk from the Sphinx Memorial in Ku-ring-gai National Park to Bobbin Head. This walk is considered of moderate/hard difficulty – our most difficult walk to date. The first 4.5km is downhill but includes some deep steps, whilst the last 4.5 km is an aerobic uphill climb via the fire trail, back to the car park.
There are some great views along the Cowan Creek with lovely bush outlooks and spring wildflowers along the fire trail. Good walking shoes are required, and a single walking pole may be an advantage.
For lunch there are some good options at the nearby North Turramurra shops.
Duration: The walk is an average 2½ hrs, but we will allow around 3 – 3½ hrs with a half-way coffee stop at Bobbin Head Kiosk.
When: Tuesday 27 September
Where: Meet at the Sphinx Memorial inside the Ku-ring-gai National Park at 10.30 am.
Getting There: Driving and car-pooling is the preferred option. The drive is approximately 40 minutes.
To avoid the $12 fee inside the Ku-ring-gai National Park, we suggest parking outside on Bobbin Head Road, near Leura Crescent. Walk past the Ranger Station then take the left road to the Sphinx Memorial.
Convener: Contact Peter Woodhouse. In the message area, please indicate whether you will require a ride. If driving, are you able to take passengers?
