The next Travel Chat meeting will be looking at Darwin – a great destination to escape from the winter cold.
We will be looking at the origin of Darwin, its history and how two major events greatly affected it; the bombing of Darwin during WW11 in 1942 and Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day 1974.
We will find out about the places and tourist attractions where you can discover more about these two major events and even re-live them.
We will do a “walking tour” around the historic part of Darwin to see how it has rebuilt itself into a modern city, like a phoenix rising out of the destruction.
We will also look at the latest development of the Darwin Waterfront.
We will tell you the top tourist spots to visit, where to stay and a free way to travel around the city.
Join us on Wednesday 10 August at 11:00 am in the Breakfast Point Administration Building.
