This walk originally planned for Friday 13 April was cancelled due to the extreme heat.
It will now take place on Friday 27 April (weather permitting) with the same arrangements of meeting at Cabarita Wharf to catch the 9:08 am rivercat.
This walk covers about 8–9 km and takes about 2 hours to complete at a leisurely pace.
The route follows the coast south from Coogee towards Maroubra Beach mainly along the shore line except for some sections where we will have to leave the water’s edge and walk up some slightly hilly sections along suburban streets.
At Lurline Bay there will be the option of descending some steps and walking across the Bay (there is no beach here) which, at low tide, has beautiful and interesting exposed honeycomb sandstone caves and sandstone boulders but this option is only suitable for those walkers very sure of their footing.
The other option is to detour via the streets to meet up with the coastal path several blocks further south.
When we arrive at Maroubra Beach we can lunch at the Bay Hotel on Marine Pde or some of the nearby cafes and walk along the beach after lunch if time permits.
We then catch a bus back to Circular Quay and home via the rivercat.
Please wear sturdy walking shoes (sneakers would be suitable) and sun protective clothing and bring sunscreen, water and snacks if desired.
This walk is equivalent to the walk from Little Bay but is not as bushy. It does have some beautiful views up and down the coast.
Please contact Judy Mitchell (via the Club’s website click here to use the online contact form) if you would like to participate.
It is the best way for Judy to keep track of who is coming and she can then let you know if there is a problem when the date approaches eg. Bad weather.
By booking an outing/tour, you confirm that you have read and accept the ‘Outings Policy’ of the Probus Club of Cabarita and Breakfast Point Inc.
